Volunteer Counsellor Placements

The Howard Academy Trust would like to offer Volunteer Counsellor Placements in order to support our students. This will enhance the support already provided by the Trust to promote emotional health and well-being. It will also enable students to develop a resilience to help them cope with the difficulties they face. There are fully qualified Lead Counsellors in post at each school for support and advice.
We have placements available at the following schools:
- The Howard School
- Waterfront UTC
The successful candidates will need to commit to this placement for one full academic year. In return, the Trust will fund an enhanced DBS check and clinical supervision for the duration of the placement.

Trust Network Manager

Due to further growth at The Howard Academy Trust, we are seeking to appoint a Trust Network Manager to join our Central Team. The Trust Network Manager will work with the Head of IT with a focus on managing and maintaining the Trusts IT infrastructure. You will need to ensure that secure, efficient and reliable operations within our schools are maintained to the agreed standard. As part of our continued investment into providing the best possible IT provision to our schools, we are seeking to appoint an Infrastructure engineer to strengthen the team.
This is a part time (22 hours per week), permanent role, paid based on the NJC payscale B2 points 26-35 (FTE £36,124 - £44,711 - actual salary calculated on a pro rata basis).
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced IT Manager to apply their skills and knowledge in ensuring that all aspects of the Trust's IT meet the needs of our schools. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a skilled Trust Network Manager to join our team and help safeguard our digital assets while protecting the Trust's data. A full, clean driving license is required, as travel between sites is essential.

Exam Invigilator

Waterfront UTC is seeking to appoint a reliable and effective Exams Invigilator to join our team of invigilators, who are required during exam periods and for days of tests throughout the academic year.
The ideal candidate will be flexible, with excellent communication skills and a confident and reassuring presence to students sitting exams. Employment for this position is offered on an Ad-hoc basis.
Please note that this position does not involve educating or teaching. The primary responsibility of a proctor is to ensure the integrity of the testing process by monitoring test takers and enforcing testing rules.
This is a casual, zero hour contract position paid based on the National Minimum Wage.

Due to Growth of the Trust our Central Team at The Howard Academy Trust are delighted to be seeking a HR Apprentice. The HR Team acts on behalf of the Trust to manage all HR and compliance for our schools.
This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring future HR professional to take their first step into the division. We are seeking a self-motivated and organised candidate to provide comprehensive high-level support in all aspects of the employee lifecycle for education staff based in our academies. The work is fast-paced and varied, meaning no two days are the same. We are looking someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to be part of a brilliant team.
This is a full time (37 hours per week), all year round, fixed term position (18-24 months), paid on the Apprentice Minimum Wage.
The successful candidate will be supported through a Level 3 HR apprenticeship, alongside completing on the job work. There may be opportunity for a permanent role upon successful completion of the apprenticeship course.
In this role, you will be required to provide confidential administrative to enure the smooth running of the HR function. Hurstmere School is seeking to appoint a highly effective Behaviour Support Officer, to start from January 2025. This position is to support the school’s behaviour strategy as part of the wider Behaviour Support Team. The successful candidate will join a supportive, forward-looking school, which places teaching and learning at the heart of everything we do.

This is a full time (32.5 hours per week), permanent role, Term Time Only + 1 week, paid based on the Bexley NJC pay scale Point 7.1-7.4 (FTE £31,524 - £32,931 – actual salary calculated on a pro rata basis - actual per annum £23,816.59 - £24,879.59).

Join our progressive and forward-thinking THAT HR Payroll and Pensions service.
We are looking to recruit a Payroll & Pensions Officer, who has a passion for helping us provide an excellent payroll experience to our staff, has telephone manner and strong administrative and IT skills. You must demonstrate attention to detail and a commitment and enthusiasm to contributing to service improvement and development.
You will be responsible for an allocated area but will work closely together with our friendly and supportive HR Payroll team.
This is a full time (37 hours per week), all year round, permanent position, paid on the NJC pay scale C2 points 12-16 (FTE £27,711-£29,572).
This will be a varied job and will provide you with lots of opportunity. You will be responsible for providing payroll services to schools so comprehensive knowledge of Payroll and strong organisational skills are key. You will be expected to manage, plan and organise your workload, work independently and use your initiative to resolve any complex problems arising and communicate solutions effectively. Customer service is important as you will respond to employees queries in a professional manner by telephone, email or MS Teams within agreed KPIs helping us to improve the employee experience.
We work collaboratively as a team, where you will help with the development and implementation of new initiatives within the service line and ensure that all payroll services processes are carried out in accordance with current legislation and best practice.
