  • Volunteer Counsellor Placements

    The Howard Academy Trust

    The Howard Academy Trust would like to offer Volunteer Counsellor Placements in order to support our students. This will enhance the support already provided by the Trust to promote emotional health and well-being. It will also enable students to develop a resilience to help them cope with the difficulties they face. There are fully qualified Lead Counsellors in post at each school for support and advice.

     

    We have placements available at the following schools:

    • The Howard School
    • Waterfront UTC

     

    The successful candidates will need to commit to this placement for one full academic year. In return, the Trust will fund an enhanced DBS check and clinical supervision for the duration of the placement.

  • Trust Network Manager

    The Howard Academy Trust

    Salary NJC B2 points 26-35 (FTE £36,124 - £44,711))

    Due to further growth at The Howard Academy Trust, we are seeking to appoint a Trust Network Manager to join our Central Team. The Trust Network Manager will work with the Head of IT with a focus on managing and maintaining the Trusts IT infrastructure. You will need to ensure that secure, efficient and reliable operations within our schools are maintained to the agreed standard. As part of our continued investment into providing the best possible IT provision to our schools, we are seeking to appoint an Infrastructure engineer to strengthen the team.

    This is a part time (22 hours per week), permanent role, paid based on the NJC payscale B2 points 26-35 (FTE £36,124 - £44,711 - actual salary calculated on a pro rata basis).

    This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced IT Manager to apply their skills and knowledge in ensuring that all aspects of the Trust's IT meet the needs of our schools. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a skilled Trust Network Manager to join our team and help safeguard our digital assets while protecting the Trust's data. A full, clean driving license is required, as travel between sites is essential.

    Waterfront UTC is seeking to appoint a member of staff to join our Science Department. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, talented, and passionate Teacher of Science, to start from January 2025.

    You will have excellent subject knowledge and be confident that students in your care will make exceptional progress. This is a great opportunity for someone to join a team which is forward-thinking and focused on doing the very best for every student.

    Please note that this position does not involve educating or teaching. The primary responsibility of a proctor is to ensure the integrity of the testing process by monitoring test takers and enforcing testing rules.

    This is a casual, zero hour contract position paid based on the National Minimum Wage.

  • Trustee Director

    The Howard Academy Trust are seeking to appoint several individuals to join our Board of Directors to oversee the strategic direction of our Multi Academy Trust, holding senior leaders to account. This is a voluntary opportunity that provides a meaningful opportunity to help us delivering our vision of building a community of successful learners, for the 5100+ pupils we educate, across our 8 schools in Medway, Kent and Bexley.  

    We welcome candidates who have operated at a Senior Level. Board experience is not essential, and training will be provided. The Board meets 6 times per year on a hybrid basis. We are interested to hear from candidates with experience in any of the following fields: Education, Estates, IT, Governance, Legal or Marketing. We aim to have a diverse Board, with a wide range of life experience and skill sets.

    It is important that perspective Directors align strongly to our values of Inclusivity, Dignity, Respect and Ambition and will champion our vision of “Working together to build a community of successful learners”.

    Volunteering as a Director is an excellent way to give back, but also to develop skills and gain Board level experience.

    Commitment:

    All Directors are asked to attend six meetings per year, which last up to 2 hours and are held hybrid.

    The Board has two subcommittees, each meeting three times per year on a virtual basis. Joining a committee is voluntary and committee members are voted on by the Board of Directors.

    Directors are a key part of our community and have the voluntary opportunity to visit our schools, attend Trust events such as our Trust conference and Trust awards and are offered funded CPD relevant to the Director role.

    Hurstmere School is seeking to appoint a reliable and effective Exams Invigilator to join our team of invigilators, who are required during exam periods and for days of tests throughout the academic year. The ideal candidate will be flexible, with excellent communication skills and a confident and reassuring presence to students sitting exams. Employment for this position is offered on an Ad-hoc basis.

    Please note that this position does not involve educating or teaching. The primary responsibility of a proctor is to ensure the integrity of the testing process by monitoring test takers and enforcing testing rules.

    This is a casual, zero hour contract position paid an hourly rate of £15.19, based on the Bexley Pay Range 5.1.
